Project 2025

Addressing the
Unaddressed.

MY-GEO is a revolutionary digital addressing infrastructure designed to give every square meter in Malaysia a unique identity.

What is it?

MY-GEO is a hierarchical geocoding system. It translates complex GPS coordinates (e.g., 3.1578, 101.7116) into short, memorable alphanumeric codes like KL1 1AA.

Why do we need it?

Traditional addresses are often inconsistent or non-existent in rural areas. MY-GEO ensures that logistics, emergency services (Ambulance/Fire), and drones can locate any spot with 15m precision.

Who is it for?

Developed by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, this system is designed for the public, government agencies, postal services, and e-commerce platforms.

Where does it work?

It covers 100% of Malaysia. From the dense city centers of Kuala Lumpur to the remote interiors of Sabah and Sarawak. It works offline and online.

When?

Launched in 2025 as a pilot project to modernize the national addressing infrastructure, supporting the growth of automated delivery systems.

How does it work?

It divides Malaysia into a grid. Each state (Area) is divided into Districts, then Sectors, and finally 15m x 15m Units, each assigned a character based on location.

The Algorithm

From Coordinate to Code.

Our algorithm compresses latitude and longitude into 7 digits. It's smart enough to know if you are in a city (high precision) or a forest (low precision).

  • 1 KL - Area Code (Kuala Lumpur)
  • 2 5 - Major District Grid (10km)
  • 3 XY - Micro Sector (15m Precision)
